Frandsen Bank & Trust prioritizes the safety of its customer and recommends taking advantage of the indicated precautions and warning signs.
[Definition]
What is an ATM?
ATM stands for Automated Teller Machine, which provides standard banking services, such as withdrawing cash, depositing checks, and checking account balances.

Security Tips:
  • Preplan ATM visits to reduce the time spent at the machine.
  • Have the ATM card accessible before arriving.
  • Examine the ATM for signs of tampering.
  • Hide the keypad when providing the PIN.
    • Do not write the PIN on the ATM card.
  • Do not count or display money withdrawals publicly.
  • Secure the ATM card, money, and receipt.
Stand-alone ATMs, such as those found at gas stations, grocery stores, and other public locations, are more likely to be tampered with than ATMs at bank locations. Criminals will attempt to attach skimming devices to ATMs to collect card information. Skimming devices are designed to make it difficult for consumers to identify abnormalities. Although, a brief visual inspection can help the consumer resolve justifiable concerns.

What are common signs of tampering:
  • Loose keypad (over-laid keypad)
  • Keypad buttons are thick and hard to press.
  • Card reader (slot) is loose.
  • Alignment irregularities (card reader)
  • Color scheme doesn’t match the associated bank.
