Frandsen Bank & Trust is proud to award $1,000 scholarships to 25 outstanding high school seniors who demonstrate our shared commitment to the community, in honor of our colleague Orlo Balcer.
Who Is Eligible?
This scholarship is open to high school seniors graduating in spring 2026 who reside in Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, or Wisconsin and plan to attend a post-secondary institution in fall 2026.
To qualify, students must:
Provide proof of acceptance to a post-secondary institution as a full-time student by June 15, 2026.
Be a Frandsen Bank & Trust customer or the dependent of a parent or guardian who is a customer.

Submit your 250-word essay and scholarship application during this window.
This year's question is: Our communities flourish through strong connection and mutual support. How have you contributed to your community, and what values and lessons have you learned that you will carry into your new academic journey?
Please respond to the prompt in 350–500 words.
Watch Your Email in April
Winners will be announced in late April, and certificates will be made available for your school's award night.
Scholarship recipients are chosen based on the quality and originality of their essays. Financial need is NOT a determining factor.
Share Admission Information in June
The scholarship check will be issued to your college or university's financial aid office. To remain eligible, recipients must:
Provide proof of acceptance to a post-secondary institution by June 15, 2026.
Attend a post-secondary institution in fall 2026.
Failure to meet either requirement will result in forfeiture of the scholarship.
